Notes
This was a staged "concert"
version of the Rodgers and Hart classic. I played Joey, a small
time saloon singer who has dreams of the big time, but finds
his only real success in the arms of older, wealthy women. Gene
Kelly originated the role back in the thirties. Our production
also starred Patti Lupone and Bebe Neuwirth.
"I'm Talking To My Pal" was a song that
was cut from the original show and our production as well, but
we included it on the album, and it was the first time the song
had been recorded. Larry Hart was a brilliant, tortured lyricist,
and the song reveals a lot about him.
